We participated in the conference "Better medicines for children" in London
The international conference "Better medicines for children" organized by DIA Global, the European Forum for Good Clinical Practices (EFGCP) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), took place on October 10-11th.
The theme of the event has been related to how drug development can be further optimized for the health of children. New concepts and strategies for an integrated approach at each step of paediatric development have been discussed, which were previously learned in the lessons carried out during the implementation of the European Union Pediatric Regulation. There were sessions devoted to specific areas of expertise such as neonatology, as well as development of concepts such as the extrapolation approach of clinical trials conducted with adults.
A roundtable on the involvement of young people was held the first day, expert patients in the process of developing innovative medicines for pediatric patients. In this activity, Camille Gonzálvez participated as the representative of the group KIDS Barcelona. Ms. Gonzálvez shared a table with representatives of Generation R (United Kingdom), Scottish Children Research Network and Action Duchenne (United Kingdom).
This was the first occasion in an event organized by the EMA in which young expert patients were involved, an activity highly valued by the public of the congress. The audience counted with representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory agencies, research centres and patient associations.
