KIDS Barcelona starts with strongly motivation the 2020-2021 academic year
The last 2nd of October we came back to work performing the first session of the new course. In the agenda the next projects, the welcome of the new members and a guest that gave us inspirational messages.
We are back stronger than ever. During this session, we had the great pleasure of listening to Ángela Hitos who gave us the “welcome speech”. She spoke to us about anti-capacitism, a very hidden movement that she gives voice to, among other movements, on her social networks. She explained that empowerment is the repression and exclusion suffered by disabled people for the simple fact of being disabled.
After Angela Hitos' speech, we took advantage of the session to catch up on the new members of the Kids group and then we talked about the activities that would be carried out during the next quarter. We want to highlight the participation in the Better Medicines for Children congress, the collaboration with the guys from "Crazy about Biomedicine" and the IRB (Institute for Research in Biomedicine). Our colleagues took the opportunity to explain the co-creation of the YEAH project, whose purpose is to educate children and young people about their involvement in clinical trials through interactive activities.
To finalize the session we talked about the activities that we will carry out in the coming months. We highlight the congress for high school students that we have organized over the last five years now to give visibility to clinical research and the work that the Kids Barcelona group carries out at the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.
We hope to see you in the next post!
